Main purpose of job:

To supervise Technical works group operatives

The main duties will 

  • To carry out daily tasks as set by line Manager
  • To draw up specifications, contract documentation and tenders for contracts as per FCO  guidance and reguClations
  • To liaise with the Technical works supervisor, Embassy purchasing officer and store manager on material requiement
  • To liaise with other Technical works Group operatives, electricians, plumbers masons, carpenters etc and ensure that their work  is carried out to a good standard and in a timely manner
  • To promote and encourage greater awareness of Health and safety in the  workplace
  • Supervise contractors and ensure that their work is up to standard, on time and that they keeping to acceptable Health and safety standards
  • To carry out personnel management duties including agreeing objectives, encouraging productivity and reviewing progress. Carry out fair and genuine appraisals and serve as a conduit of information to the head of section
  • To carry out any other tasks or insructions given by the line manager

Required skills

  • At least 2 years previous supervisory experience
  • BA/BSc in Electrical /Technical Engineering
  • A current full driving licence


  • Very good Amharic and English Language both verbal and written
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Salary, Working hours & Benefits
  • Normal working hours are 41.50 hrs. Per week
  • The successful applicant will receive provident fund (13%), medical benefits and 22 days annual leave (after the probation period)
